Customer Information Desk 0141 885 4600 Design: BDP + Cooper Cromar Architects Braehead Shopping Centre - Location: The Braehead Shopping Centre is located off the M8, 5 miles west from Glasgow centre, on Kings Inch Rd. Braehead Shopping Centre opened in 1999 and cost £285m. The Joint Venture was created in 1986 and the Planning application was submitted in 1987. Braehead Glasgow is reportedly the largest privately-funded waterside regeneration project in the country. Braehead Shopping Centre and Retail Park provide over 1m sqft of shopping and leisure space. Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) run Braehead: the 165 acres of land that surround the shopping centre include a retail park with the largest new build store in the UK - IKEA - completed in 2001. Shields Business Park & Braehead Business Park will include offices and a hotel. Braehead Masterplan: A master plan has been developed and an outline plan granted permission by Renfrewshire Council for the land between the Braehead Shopping Centre and Renfrew. This development will regenerate the largest area of derelict land in Renfrewshire. The masterplan will include the following:- Xscape, Scotland's first snowdome plus cinema, health club, specialist sports and leisure shopping a 175 room hotel (to be developed by Capital & Regional in partnership with CSC), a 28,000 sqm business park, almost 900 homes including flats, townhouses and family homes and public riverside parkland - the Riverside Boardwalk - for the local community. New roads, footpaths and cycleways will be built to ensure that the area is connected to Renfrew town centre: this development is the major part of the North Renfrew plan linking Renfrew to Braehead. Leisure facilities include an eight-sheet curling rink, home to Braehead Curling and a 4000-seat international arena. Behind the Braehead leisure mall, adjacent to the River Clyde, is Clydebuilt - the Maritime Heritage Centre. The architect is Faulkner Browns Xscape Glasgow - PR from Braehead PR company 130306: XSCAPE BRAEHEAD CELEBRATES LATEST RETAIL LETTINGS Glasgow leisure destination close to 80% prelet Xscape Braehead is delighted to announce a number of new lettings prior to its opening in April. The latest names to join the roster at the 375,000 sq ft flagship leisure and shopping destination include exciting lifestyle retailers Quiksilver, Adrenaline Junkie and Evans Cycles. They join other great names already signed up including Billabong, Trespass, Ellis Brigham and Blue Salamander. Quiksilver is taking a 5,000 sq ft store, which will offer the latest in surf and snow sports clothing. Adrenaline Junkie is opening a 2,300 sq ft concept store, following the success of their store at Xscape Castleford. Adrenaline Junkie offers a range of urban lifestyle fashion that reflects the surf, snow and skate scenes. Perfectly complementing the outdoor activities at Xscape, retailer Evans Cycles, is taking a new 3,690 sq ft store. With stores at both Xscape Millton Keynes and Castleford, Evans Cycles stocks a full range of bikes from leading brands such as Trek, Cannondale and Specialized, as well as a Service Centre providing a full repair and servicing facility. Xscape Braehead will open in April 2006, following an 18-month construction programme and will be home to Scotlands first indoor real snow slope. It is a 375,000 sq ft sports, shopping, entertainment and leisure destination, which will be anchored by a 200 metre real snow slope as well as a 12 screen multiplex cinema, 24 lanes of bowling, extreme sports including 2 climbing walls and an aerial assault course, family sporting attractions and 37,500 sq ft of urban, lifestyle and sports shops, and 71,000 sq ft of restaurants and bars. The site also has 1,400 dedicated free car parking spaces. The project is the third of the Xscape destinations to be built and is a joint venture between Capital & Regional Plc and Capital Shopping Centres. The overall investment by the Xscape Partnership will be in excess of £60m. Total investment into the project following tenants fit out is estimated at in excess of £100m. Once opened, Xscape will provide employment for over 800 staff on site. Additionally it will support several hundred jobs off site, under supply and maintenance contracts pre- and post- the construction phases. Background to Xscape Braehead: 80% of the floor area is pre let to major leisure and retail occupiers including Odeon Cinemas, Snozone Ltd (Snowslope operator), Bowlplex PLC, Ellis Brigham (snow and climbing retailers), Pizza Hut and TGI Fridays, Frankie & Bennys, Chiquitos, Nandos, Ma Potters, and Tootsies. The indoor real snow slope will be 200m in length including a dedicated 50m beginners slope.16 snow guns will create over 1,500 tonnes of real snow refrigerated at a constant temperature of between minus 2 and 3 degrees. Since launch in 2000, Xscape Milton Keynes has attracted over 25m visitors. Xscape Braehead, Glasgow is being jointly developed under the Xscape Braehead Partnership, a 50/50 joint venture between Capital and Regional PLC and Capital Shopping Centres PLC and will be managed by X-Leisure. Xscape Braehead is part of the phase 2 development of Braehead. Phase 1, which opened in Sep 1999 and attracts 20m visitors a year, offers 1.06 m sq ft of retail and leisure with 117 shops and stores, a 4,000 seat arena and skating and curling rinks. A 300,000 sq ft IKEA occupies an adjacent site. Phase 2 involves further substantial regeneration activity including some 1,350 new homes, a riverside park and walkway, 750,000 sq ft of offices as well as Xscape.
