Located halfway down the city’s St Vincent Street, the distinctive green terracotta building will provide high-quality student accommodation ready for occupation in July, in advance of the 2026/27 academic term. The new development follow’s Artisan’s successful million regeneration of the city’s Custom House into a Clydeside hotel quarter, and precedes the construction start of 109 new low carbon homes for sale and commercial space at 69-97 Ingram Street, which is due to commence later this year.

Spread over 16 floors, St Vincent Studios combines 321 self-contained studio apartments with best-in-class communal facilities, designed to deliver secure and sustainable accommodation to meet Glasgow’s fast expanding student population.

The development will place students right at the heart of the city centre, within walking distance of all the city’s leading higher education institutions – including the University of Glasgow, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow Caledonian University and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Construction began in November 2024, bringing together regeneration-specialist Artisan Real Estate with Housing Growth Partnership (HGP), the Lloyds-backed equity investor for the UK living sector. “St Vincent Studios is set to significantly raise the bar for Glasgow’s provision of premium purpose-built student accommodation,” says Artisan’s Managing Director for Scotland, David Westwater. “The site is in a superb city centre location and meets the urgent need for high-quality accommodation in the city – and in particular, individual studio apartments. The location and quality of the development is now being demonstrated by the significant level of interest from students and the number of lettings we have achieved this early in the cycle.

“The vibrant student population in Glasgow strengthens the energy and vitality of Glasgow supporting local businesses and encourages investment to the city centre. We are proud to be able to support this important sector by once again bringing investment into Glasgow and delivering this superbly designed development to replace an existing office block which had remained vacant for the many years.”

Colin Bennett, Investment Director at HGP adds: “This is our second collaboration with Artisan Real Estate and underlines our confidence in the purpose-built student accommodation sector at a time when economic and planning constraints are impacting new developments coming forward.”

St Vincent Studios offers a range of 321 contemporary, self-contained studio apartments spread across 14 floors – all designed for independent student living and built to balance comfort, privacy and practicality with access to an impressive range of shared facilities throughout the building. Each studio has an ensuite shower room and provides a fully equipped kitchen together with a dedicated desk and study area, spacious double bed, large wardrobe and cleverly designed internal storage spaces.  Students can choose from a range of room sizes – from ‘classic’ to ‘premium’ with many providing stunning city-wide views, and there are several accessible apartments which are available to all.

The communal facilities, spread throughout the building’s 16 floors, are amongst the best available to be found in any student accommodation across the UK. Unusually, the development has five private roof terraces offering spectacular views across the city centre and beyond.  There are also dedicated study areas – including the study lounge, quiet zone and private meeting pods – plus an exclusive cinema room, games room, fully equipped gym and yoga/dance studio and a beautifully positioned ninth-floor private dining space and sky-lounge.

Other facilities include dedicated internal cycle storage for 160 bikes and laundry rooms featuring the latest in high-tech washer dryers operated by a simple app.  Super-fast fibre optic wi-fi is available throughout the building along with state-of-the-art CCTV.  There is also a welcoming reception area with 24/7 access.

St Vincent Studios is operated by Homes for Students, the UK’s largest independent student management company under its Prestige Living and the building is being delivered by construction partner GRAHAM. Martin Corbett, Chief Executive Officer of Homes for Students, says: “We are proud to be working closely with Artisan Real Estate to ensure this is a best-in-class, purpose-built scheme. We are creating high quality accommodation and amenities for students to enjoy, providing an exceptional user experience using the skills of our property team to foster and support student wellbeing whilst closely integrating with the local community.”

A site that sat vacant for years is now back in productive use due to our committed construction partnership.”

Apartments at St Vincent Studios can now be reserved for the forthcoming 2026/27 academic year from £190 per week – an all-inclusive cost covering rent, wi-fi, electricity, heating and water. A no-risk deposit is required to reserve an apartment which can be fully refunded if any student entrance requirements are not met.

Glasgow is currently home to around 185,000 higher education students, giving it the second-largest student population in the UK after London. When the next academic term kicks off in September 2026, almost one in four of the city’s population will be a student. In recent years, Glasgow has been at the forefront of delivering large scale city centre student developments to meet this growing demand – especially in the form of premium Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA). These mainly provide high-quality individual studios and communal spaces more akin to boutique hotel living than traditional student digs and are a particular draw for the city’s 25,000-strong population of international students.
