Glasgow Royal Concert Hall building

The Culture and External Affairs Minister has announced funding to redevelop two of Glasgow’s leading venues in time for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Fiona Hyslop confirmed the Scottish Government has allocated more than a million pounds from its 2011/12 budget for work on the Theatre Royal and Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

Oran Mor Glasgow concert venue: Byres Road bar

Formerly derelict church – 1862 by JJ Stevenson – refurbished in 2003. Oran Mor includes a painted ceiling by Alasdair Grey. Oran Mor (Oranmor) Church, Byres Road, Glasgow has a strong programme of theatre and live music. The venue opened in Jun 2004 with former Head chef at Gleneagles Hotel, Colin Bussey, as Executive chef.
