It is one of two restaurants at No.1 Devonshire Gardens. Room Restaurant : image from Room Glasgow Following the success of Room Leeds, which opened in 2002, restaurateurs John Pallagi and Simon Wright are continuing with their plans for company expansion with the launch of their second restaurant in the city. Room Glasgow took over the restaurant formerly run by celebrity chef, Gordon Ramsay: Amaryllis, in a suite of double-height rooms at 1 Devonshire Gardens, earned its first Michelin star in just one year. Sadly Glaswegian chef David Dempsey passed away and Gordon Ramsay returned to London. Room Glasgow serves traditional 'retro cuisine' with a contemporary twist: menus are influenced by dishes from the 1970's. Split over six rooms, Room Glasgow offers a Cocktail Bar, four restaurant Dining Rooms and a Private Dining Room. One Devonshire Gardens has a reputation for quality and service. Room Glasgow has funky décor, lively background music, creative cocktails, and a good value wine list. The hotel retains original period features including stained glass windows, hand carved wood panelling, ceiling cornices and marble fireplaces. One Devonshire Gardens gained fame with Gordon Ramsay’s Amaryllis restaurant which has now been refurbished upon Gordon’s departure back to London and renamed. This Glasgow boutique hotel has 39 – 41 rooms / suites, 12 with four poster beds. No.1 Devonshire Gardens was previously owned and developed by hotelier Ken McCulloch. Rated as being one of eight 'absolutely fabulous' Great Places to Stay in the UK by Zagat, the American Hotel Guide, along with the Lanesborough Hotel, Four Seasons, Ritz, Dorchester, Connaught, Claridges, One Aldwych.
