The Client’s brief was to provide an 8 bed-space, high quality housing development to assist individuals with Dementia. It should allow them to live independently in their own home, with on site assistance, at hand 24 hours as required
The proposals for Drumchapel will see the transformation of 124 acres across eight brownfield sites. Over a five year period 1208 new family homes will be built along with neighbourhood shops, new roads, footpaths, lighting and greenspaces.

In general I’m not a great fan of modernist architecture but I feel that this example should be preserved as an example of architecture of a particular time. I’m dismayed that many people don’t consider keeping examples of modern architecture and see them as merely carbuncles on the landscape. It’s not the prettiest of buildings and this seems to be highlighted even more with the beautiful rural setting.
