Grosvenor Building

The Grosvenor Building was designed by Greek Thomson as commercial premises with shops below, for Alexander & George Thomson. It was burnt down shortly after it was completed but rebuilt in 1864-66.

This Gordon Street building caught fire again in 1901 and when rebuilt in 1907 took its current name form the Grosvenor Restaurant by Clarke, Bell & Craigie. Finally this city centre building again had a fire in 1967.

The Grosvenor building was built on the site of the Gordon Street United Presbyterian Church after purchase by A. & G. Thomson.
