Arizona Electrical License: All About It

The electrical licenses in Arizona are offered by the Arizona state registrar of contractors. To get an Arizona electrical license, an individual must have work experience of four years. Once an individual meets this requirement, they can apply for the written exam for the license. The exam consists of two parts. The first part tests your electrical knowledge, and the second exam tests business management.
Once a person receives the license, they need to fulfill bonding requirements. For example, if a person’s annual gross income from electrical work is $150,000 or below, they need to file a bond of $2500. Meanwhile, a person with a gross commercial income above $10 million in a year needs to fill a bond of $100,000.
ALTERNATIVES TO LEARN ELECTRICIAN SKILLS
Many union and non-union Apprenticeships are being offered by different institutions such as the Phoenix and Tucson chapters of the international brotherhood of electrical workers union. Joining an apprenticeship program will allow you to learn from an experienced electrical contractor. After enrolling in an apprenticeship program, an individual is assigned to a local electrical contractor. The individual works during the day and attends classes at night.
VOCATIONAL COURSES AND ASSOCIATE DEGREES
The vocational courses and associate degrees provide you with an opportunity to study some of the basic topics in electrical works. One can enroll themselves in one of the electrical courses in Arizona. These courses teach electrical calculations and algebra, Arizona safety codes, electrical theory, transformers and motors, safe work practices and OSHA guidelines, etc. Apart from teaching basics related to electricity, many schools have tie-ups with the local employers in Arizona where a student can go and gain valuable practical skills.
