Current Market Trends
News Release detailing opinion on current market trends by Knight
Frank.

Karen MacKenzie, Partner, Knight Frank & Andrew Borthwick, Director,
Alba Town Ltd, looking at the plans to regenerate the site in Glasgow
City Centre.
REGENERATING TRONGATE FOR CITY LIVING
A leading national property agent has applauded plans to inject new life
into the Glasgow Cross area of Glasgow.
Alba Town Ltd is planning a £30m regeneration scheme, which will
see derelict land transformed into 170 flats and 18,000 sq ft of retail
space. Karen MacKenzie, Partner, Knight Frank, believes such a vision
has been a long time coming.
She said: "The Trongate used to be a bustling area full of life,
but it has suffered some what from a lack of investment over the years.
It's an area of the town overlooked by shoppers and tourists but I believe
this regeneration proposal will help bring people back to the area.
"There is also little retail activity and it lacks the nightlife
which has bolstered areas like Byres Road and the neighbouring Merchant
City. Alba Town's project would resurrect the Trongate and give it
back its soul."
Andrew Borthwick, Director, Alba Town, said: "We are delighted to
have this opportunity to assist in the regeneration of Glasgow Cross and
encourage city living to thrive. Trongate is transforming itself into
a vital part of the city centre adjacent, as it is, to the Merchant City.
It is evolving back into the important corridor between Argyle Street
and the East End."
Subject to planning consent being granted, it is hoped that development
will begin in late spring this year.
