Architecture 6 Aug 2008 DESIGN STUDIO TUTORS DEPARTMENT OF ARCHITECTURE, UNIVERSITY OF STRATHCLYDE In an innovative move to consolidate links between the School of Architecture and Practice, five Teaching Fellows have been appointed by the University of Strathclyde as Year Studio Directors. All are practicing architects who will retain involvement with their practices and bring that resource into the School to expand Research and Teaching opportunities. Kathy Li, Dave McRitchie, Leslie Palmer, Peter Welsh and Uli Enslein take up their posts in August 2008. As part of this reshaping we are also seeking design studio tutors to work in each year alongside the studio directors. Ideally you will be registered architects currently in practice with 3-5 years experience and can commit to two half days per week during both semesters (15 weeks each). These part-time positions which come with an initial probationary period are for a one year contract initially, paid on an hourly basis (circa £23/hr). If the first year is successful, the aim is to offer a further two year contract for these posts. The session for year one is end September through to early June 2009. Please respond with expressions of interest, CVs and A4 examples of design work to Aileen Middleton, School Administrator by email to aillen.middleton@strath.ac.uk or by post to Department of Architecture, University of Strathclyde, 131 Rottenrow, Glasgow, G4 0NG. (Quote Ref: Arch Tutors 2008) Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Gordon Murray at g.murray@strath.ac.uk. Applications Closing date: Wednesday 13th August 2008. We value diversity and welcome applications from all sections of the community University of Strathclyde Architecture 17 Jul 2008 University of Strathclyde Architecture graduate James Tait has won the RIAS Silver medal at the SIX Awards hosted by the Lighthouse-Scotlands National Centre for Architecture and Design. This success follows our student Richard Penny awarded the Royal Scottish Academy medal in the spring. Both successes are the third time in five years each of the awards has been won by Strathclyde students. Within the Faculty, following on the appointment of Gordon Murray and Alan Pert as Professor of Architecture and Professor of Innovation last year, further developments in the restructuring of the Course Management of the School of Architecture has resulted in a number of new appointments. Dr. Jonathan Charley becomes Director of Cultural Studies, Mr. Mike Angus Foundation Studies Director, and Mr. Chris Platt Graduate Studies Director. Dr David Grierson is appointed Director of Post Graduate studies. In addition, in an innovative move to consolidate links between the School and Practice, five teaching fellows have been appointed as Year Studio Directors. All are practicing architects who will retain involvement with their practices and bring that resource into the School to expand Research and Teaching opportunities. Kathy Li, Davie McRitchie, Leslie Palmer, Peter Welsh and Uli Enslein take up their posts in August 2008. Continuing on this initiative the School will also be expanding the popular Urban Design Course, currently undergoing accreditation by RTPI, with the appointment in the Autumn of a new Professor of Urban Design. This post will be advertised shortly. ![]() Strathclyde University Building - image © adrian welch University of Strathclyde Buildings Strathclyde Graduate Business School 1993 Reaich and Hall RIBA Awards 1993 Regional Award : Scotland For University of Strathclyde £7.5m More info online soon Glasgow Caledonian University Scottish Architecture Glasgow Buildings Strathclyde Business Park Glasgow University - School of Art Strathclyde Business School Glasgow University - Main Buildings Glasgow News : back to index Comments / photos for this Strathclyde University Architecture page welcome: info@glasgowarchitecture.co.uk Strathclyde University Glasgow Building - page: adrian welch / isabelle lomholt |
