Location: 4m east of Linlithgow, off A904, West Lothian

Architecture: the house was gifted by the Dalyells to the National Trust in 1944

History: The current Tam Dalyell has an illustrious past in the House of Commons and originated the famous West Lothian Question re p[roblems with scottish Devolution. General Tam Dalyell founded the Royal Scots Greys. It is reputed that the General roasted his enemies alive in the ovens.

Directions: Off the A 904 approx 15 miles west of Edinburgh
Opening Times: generally 1 May to 30 Sep except Fri, check with operators
