It is the second oldest university in Scotland and the fourth oldest in Britain. The Main Building of the University is by Sir George Gilbert Scott in 1886.
John McAslan
Bridge to link Glasgow University and Kelvingrove Gallery & Museum.
The Kelvin Bridge has yet to be built, four years after it was proposed.
John McAslan, the Scottish born architect, designed the bridge for Glasgow University.

The Mackintosh House
The interiors of 6 Florentine Terrace, Glasgow: reconstruction of Rennie Mackintosh & Margaret Macdonald house; includes the Mackintosh House Gallery. A useful exhibition for visitors to Glasgow - a recreation but without any functional or commercial variation such as the Glasgow School of Art and the Tea Rooms.
The Hunterian Museum & Art Gallery opened in 1807 and was the first public museum in Scotland. The Hunterian is named after William Hunter, a pioneer obstetrician and anatomist. The building is by Gilbert Scott.
