Refurbished in the mid-eighties this six-floor shopping centre is arranged
around a decorative atrium set just off Buchanan
Street on its east side not far from Central Station. When it first
opened Princes Square Glasgow was featured everywhere as it was a novel
concept for Scotland and was seen as being both more upmarket than other
emerging shopping malls and more integral to the city's structure.

A replica of Foucault's Pendulum is hung in the Princes Square atrium
and the symmetrical sweeping staircases use ornate Art Nouveau-influenced
balustrading. Some of the spaces are rather dark and unwelcoming such
as under the stairs and in side aisles.
