Kinning Park RMJM is currently delivering a landmark 35 unit residential project within the Kinning Park area of Glasgow, located in an area recently coined 'The Media Quarter'. image from RMJM Architects Jul 2005 The development boasts: secure parking, home office, ECO homes rating, park views with balconies and top floor apartments with gallery spaces. The materials chosen seek to respond to the surrounding context in a contemporary way. The red brick to Lorne Street makes reference to the nearby warehouses expressing Govan's industrial character. The shiny black ceramic granite cladding to Brand Street makes reference to the contemporary riverfront buildings which are injecting life back into the area. A corner lantern feature provides a landmark by day and night. The inclusion of art interventions in the public areas will also add to the richness of the building and the user's experience of it. The proposals are in the planning process with work due to start on site in autumn 2005.
