Cooper Cromar achieves Scotland’s first ‘A’ Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
Cooper Cromar has recently completed two of the first buildings in Scotland to achieve ‘A’ Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs): Solail House, NG Bailey’s Scottish headquarters at Strathclyde Business Park, and The Altum Building at West of Scotland Science Park.
Solail House, Strathclyde Business Park:

Solail House, also awarded an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating, redefined the developer’s brief by making a conventional office as sustainable as possible. With a ground source heat pump, solar thermal heating, photovoltaic glass, an intelligent building management system, rainwater harvesting, sun pipes, recycling facilities and maximum efficiency lighting, this 19,600ft2 two-story building will deliver real benefits over its life span.

Achieving a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating, The Altum Building is an energy efficient, two story pavilion housing 16,800ft2 of high quality office accommodation. Large expanses of glazing maximise natural daylight and the generous floor to ceiling height facilitates natural ventilation. Additional energy saving environmental features include a ground source heat pump supplying underfloor heating within an Ecoscreed.
In addition to these cutting-edge developments, Cooper Cromar has developed a variety of environmentally friendly and sustainable buildings over the past few months. These include the Lumina Building at Hillington Park which incorporates environmentally conscious feature such as solar control glass, efficient lighting controls and solar thermal water heating, and a £20m regeneration project for Oak Tree Housing in Greenock providing 240 sustainable, energy efficient homes.
David Dool, Executive Director at Cooper Cromar said, “As a business we are passionate in our aim to promote sustainable developments. Cooper Cromar’s approach is to put the theories and concepts of sustainability into practice.”
