This is the stadium in Govan, southwest Glasgow in the old dock area, of one of Britain's most famous football teams, Rangers FC. The team's biggest rivals are Celtic. Rangers play in blue and Celtic in green and white.
Stadium Description
The Ibrox building is domineering and massive, using red brick and generous amounts of glass blocks. Ibrox Stadium was originally built in 1899; it now has a capacity of around 50,000 seats. The images above are of a new section added over a decade ago.
Plans to regenerate the area around Ibrox Stadium could be revived. The area around the home of Rangers Football Club - known as G51 - has long been waiting for investment. A report in the Rangers Monthly magazine suggests that regeneration of the local community could be an option again due to the positive impact of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
