inovo by Scottish Enterprise in Glasgow

Scottish Enterprise has officially opened its £10m industry engagement building, inovo, a purpose-built office block which will help support the offshore renewable energy market.

inovo provides 3,900 sqm of office space and is the first phase of development within Glasgow’s International Technology and Renewable Energy Zone (ITREZ) a new zone developed to bring business and academia together and place the city at the forefront of this industry.

The building is designed to encourage partnership between companies within the industry and it is envisaged that the communal areas, business lounge and meeting rooms will act as a hub for information sharing and collaboration.

inovo completed in September 2013 and is the first office building in Glasgow to achieve an ‘A’ Energy Performance Certificate and an Excellent BREEAM rating.

BDP is also designing the adjacent Technology Innovation Centre for the University of Strathclyde also within ITREZ and due to complete this September.

Adrian Gillespie, Scottish Enterprise’s MD of operations, said: “Initiatives such as ITREZ play a key role in supporting the growth of the sector in Scotland. In particular, inovo, together with the University of Strathclyde’s Technology Innovation Centre, aims to bridge the gap between industry and academia by offering co-location opportunities and creating an ideal breeding ground for industry to harness cutting edge research and help shape the offshore renewable industry of tomorrow.”
