Rosslyn Chapel Exhibition
Rosslyn: Country of Painter and Poet
First major exhibition devoted to the intriguing 15th-century chapel at Roslin, Midlothian. The subject of much intellectual and spiritual controversy, numerous literary descriptions and works of art, Rosslyn Chapel has been a source of inspiration to artists and writers from Sir Walter Scott to William Wordsworth. The chapel has associations with the Knights Templar and early freemasonry but has also attracted some wild theories, such as there being a life-size bronze equestrian statue, the twelve disciples, even the holy grail, buried beneath the altar. Currently subject to a ‘long-haul’ renovation by Simpson & Brown Architects.
