Anderson Bell Christie's designs for the West Centre have been shortlisted for the UK’s richest architectural prize, the RIAS Andrew Doolan Best Building in Scotland Award which is jointly funded by the Scottish Government and the family of the late Andrew Doolan who founded the award.
The West Centre is an area based healthcare facility for children, young people and families which combines a number of social work and primary healthcare facilities in one building and serves a large area of Glasgow and West of Scotland. It is located in Drumchapel and will have an important role to play in its ongoing regeneration.
Users include a nursery day-care centre , the Family Resource Centre, and Yorkhill NHS Trust Departments of Child and Family Psychiatry, Child Health and Adolescent Psychiatry.
This Centre was also the first of it's kind to incorporate a wide range of work by artists seamlessly into the exterior and interior of the building, for which an additional £250K was generously donated by Yorkhill Children's Foundation.
