A few weeks' after world-famous architect Fuksas claimed Scottish architecture had progressed massively in recent years here's a bleak reminder of where we are at:

"Unfortunately" says Gordon Murray "local planners have very conservative tastes and find it hard to appreciate buildings that are not presented with the regulation white render and slate roof": Dunderave Castle - nothing too radical...
Letter from Alan Dickson: "The requirement to produce buildings 'of traditional
appearance' is still the default across the board": Scottish Planning - View
RIAS News
Move of RIAS to Evolution House defeated by large majority, a blow to Mary Wrenn in her first year in charge and to President Douglas Read. The move has been discussed for years and has taken up a lot of RIAS (members') time and money. Richard Murphy has proposed that a competition be held and a new building be specifically designed, whereas a significant camp believe the original building - gifted by architect Rowand Anderson - should be made DDA compliant and renovated - more details on this soon

A Bridge too far?
As expected the new budget for the 'iconic bridge' is lowered, to £22m. Meanwhile the massive 'iconic' steel arch of the Finnieston Bridge is firmly in place downstream, reminiscent of the Wilkinson Eyre 'Winking Bridge', and indeed the shelved RRP/Atkins Glasgow Bridge
