Quiet

Gateway and Orientation Centre, by Lomond Shores, near Balloch opened 15 Jul:
"Designed by Bennett’s Associates, this beautiful, restrained structure is undoubtedly another feather in the cap
for the award-winning architectural practice, but project architect Doug Allard is careful to praise the input of all collaborators - from the adventurous clients who embraced the non-traditional concept to the exhibition designers, the carpenters, the lighting designers, the landscape architects and the seven artists who have created outdoor installations. 'It’s a quiet building'."

Connery/Grigor
Film project with possible architectural elements is finally unveiled:
"Sir Sean Connery has revived a 20-year-old partnership with one of Scotland's most celebrated film-makers in a bid to reinvigorate serious cultural documentaries.
Connery stepped in to suggest a collaboration with Murray Grigor after the film-maker complained in the Sunday Herald last year that since devolution there had been a decline in cultural TV programming".

Denmark's Jacobsen exhibition comes to Scotland
"The Museum of Modern Art in Oxford has staged a retrospective based around his buildings - Oxford University’s St Catherine’s College, and Jacobsen’s keynote SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. And Scots will get a chance to see the Danish Design Centre’s touring exhibition of Jacobsen’s work, Evergreens and Nevergreens, when it comes to Edinburgh in August.

Alan Dunlop of Murray Dunlop, the Glaswegian architects charged with designing Glasgow’s new Radisson hotel, familiarised himself with Jacobsen’s work when his practice won the contract to build the new hotel. He says: "As it turned out, Jacobsen’s interior no longer reflects Radisson’s attitude to what a modern hotel interior should be, and rather than being an asset that we could call on, the fallout from Jacobsen’s hotel became a burden for us. It is my view that the company dislikes the Copenhagen hotel. What we would consider to be a cool, modernist and timeless interior, they would consider to be a cold and dated airport lounge".
