Cube Award
Cube Housing Association Flats in Berkeley Street were announced as the
Scottish Civic Trust Award winner. The £1.3million development,
including 15 rented flats and five work units, was a joint initiative
between Cube Communities Scotland, Scottish Enterprise Glasgow and the
Scottish Arts Council.

Gordon Murray + Alan Dunlop Architects have now submitted Waterloo Street
for Planning Approval and are
expecting a twelve week decision process. The clients Kenmore Wellesley
House Ltd wish to start on site early in the New Year; total contract
cost is £10.5 m. The building is one of four put forward by GM+AD
Architects and forms part of a commercial building masterplan strategy
for Glasgow's business district.

new Glasgow Harbour website should be completed by early September
Graving Docks
A masterplan was unveiled which will see the graving docks at Govan,
close to the Glasgow Science Centre,
being redeveloped as a site for 500 homes, a 300-bedroom hotel, houseboats,
bars, a floating restaurant and shops
.The former Harland & Wolff
tidal basin and dry docks will give way to a plaza, designed by the French
architects, Valode & Pistre, for the city council.

However, local politicians and health councils voiced concerns
about changing the Southern General, in Govan, into a new super
hospital with 1,400 beds rather than the current 700. Instead, they
have argued, a new hospital should be built in a more central location
on the citys south side, making it more accessible to patients and
emergency services".
