Architects Sir Barry Gasson and John Meunier – two of the Burrell Museum’s architects – spoke out against the Go Ape high-wire adventure course.

Sir Barry quoted in the Press as saying: “The existing design was chosen because it was the only one that visually engaged with the North Wood. In my opinion, it is fundamental this North Wood – old woodland on record for 250 years – is left undisturbed. The concept of the Burrell has been an inspiration to a number of recent museums around the world and if the city proceeds with this project surely they will say: Glasgow, what have you done?”

Save Pollok Park Campaign request Scottish Government call the planning application

Result condemned by Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon (MSP for Govan_ and Deputy First Minister, the National Trust for Scotland, and representatives of the Stirling Maxwell family, who gifted the Pollok estate

Members of the planning committee visited the proposed site in Pollok Park on 25 March and heard from both the developer and the Save Pollok Park campaign group, before their final vote.
