DESTINY CHURCH, Pollockshaws Road, Glasgow
NORD were commissioned to refurbish the interior and exterior of a Grade
A Listed church in Glasgow. The primary issue is an existing 1970s
built side annex, which was in a poor state of repair and detracted from
the character of the church.

Internally the limited budget is used strategically to re-line the existing
spaces rather than entirely refurbish them. Consequently an Oak lining
board, to reflect the character of the existing church interior, was added
to the internal spaces as a discrete layer allowing the existing space
to be clearly read against the new insertion.

Externally, a similar approach is adopted. Black cement cladding panels
wrap the existing annex structure, blocking off all existing windows.
Developing a strategy to define the entrance and circulation was paramount
to the scheme and was addressed through a new illuminated entranceway,
which clearly identified the primary access to the church.
